Why Choose Simcoe?

Laser eye surgery is more than just a quick procedure, it’s a decision that can impact your vision for life. That’s why having the right support team matters. We don’t just check your eyes—we get to know your lifestyle, concerns, and what freedom from glasses means to you.

From the first conversation to your final post-op visit, we’re committed to giving you honest answers, expert insight, and a reassuring presence. Seeing clearly starts with seeing the full picture. We’ll help you get there.

An Eye Care Partner Before & After

From pre-op evaluation to post-surgery care, our role is to ensure you’re informed, comfortable, and ready for your procedure. As your laser eye surgery co-managers, we prioritize your long-term eye health, not just short-term results.

Step 1: Comprehensive Eye Exam

Not everyone is a good candidate for laser eye surgery. We’ll begin with a full exam using our diagnostic tools to check for eye health issues, corneal thickness, prescription stability, and more.

If your eyes aren’t quite ready, we’ll tell you honestly and guide you on what to do next.

Step 2: Personalized Guidance

Once we know you are a qualified candidate, you’ll probably have many questions. We’ll discuss the risks and benefits and what surgery method makes the most sense for your eyes.

Our optometrists understand surgical options and want to give you unbiased advice on successful strategies. If need be, we’ll consult with an eye surgeon to give you more details on laser procedures.

Step 3: Seamless Follow-Up Care

After surgery, our team continues to monitor your healing and visual progress. You won’t be left wondering if your recovery is on track. We check your vision, address any dryness or discomfort, and stay in touch with your surgeon to ensure everything’s going smoothly.

If you have questions, you’ll have answers.

LASIK & Beyond: Understanding Your Options

LASIK is the most widely known laser eye procedure, and for good reason. Many patients enjoy 20/20 vision afterward, without glasses or contacts, but it’s not right for everyone.

During LASIK surgery, a flap in the cornea is folded back, allowing a laser to change the shape of your cornea’s inner layers with pre-programmed calculations. The procedure can correct the eyesight of people with myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism.

It’s quick, effective, and has a high satisfaction rate. But it’s not for everyone—and that’s where we come in to help you navigate other options.

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy)

PRK is an excellent choice for patients with thinner corneas or those with physically active jobs or hobbies, like athletes or first responders, where flap-related complications from LASIK could be a concern.

During PRK, the eye’s outermost layer is gently removed before a precision laser reshapes the cornea. Recovery can take a bit longer than LASIK, but the visual results are just as sharp and lasting. It’s a safe, time-tested solution for long-term vision clarity.

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

Refractive lens exchange is a popular option for patients over 40 or anyone beginning to notice signs of early cataracts or age-related vision changes.

Instead of reshaping the cornea, RLE replaces your eye’s natural lens with a premium intraocular lens (IOL), tailored to your unique prescription needs. It’s a one-and-done solution that can eliminate the need for reading glasses and even prevent cataracts, offering both correction and peace of mind.

We work closely with different laser eye centres in Southern Ontario, referring patients to our partner clinics in London, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Kitchener, and Toronto.
